First Year

     Semester I

     Paper - I Legal Theory - I
     Paper - II Constitutional Law - I
     Paper - III Research Methodology

     Semester II

      Paper - I Legal Theory - II
      Paper - II Constitutional Law - II
      Paper - III Law and Social Change


Second Year

      Semester III and Semester IV shall be of the specialised group.
      The fields of specialisation for the third and fourth semesters are:

      1. Human Rights Branch
      2. Commercial Law Branch
      3. Labour Law Branch
      4. Criminology Branch

      Each Branch shall have four papers of 100 marks each, spread over the third and fourth semesters.


Scheme of Examination

There shall be an examination for each of the papers except the dissertation at the end of the semester. The Scheme of examination shall be as follows:

1. In each of the papers there shall be an internal assessment in the form of seminars or project work which shall be presented by the candidates in the open classroom, during the normal course of the semester, for 25 marks.

2. There shall be an university examination for 75 marks at the end of each semester for the respective papers.


Dissertation

Every candidate who joins the LLM Programme has to submit a dissertation of original research in any law related field, before the end of the fourth semester and the same shall be evaluated for 200 marks.

1. Every student shall finalize the topic of dissertation and for the research paper before the end of the second semester.

2. The dissertation shall generally include introduction, methodology, findings/discussion, summary/conclusions, notes, references and bibliography.

3. The student shall declare, in the prescribed proforma, that the dissertation is his own work and that all the sources used by him are duly acknowledged. Also, the guiding teacher shall certify, in the prescribed proforma, that the dissertation is an original work of the candidate, completed under his supervision.


The Dissertation shall be evaluated as follows:

1. Students shall submit their dissertation to the head of the department, not later then twelve weeks after the commencement of the fourth semester.

2. The dissertation shall be assessed for 200 marks. To pass in the dissertation, a student has to secure a minimum of 50 % marks.
