With a strong
desire to serve the society dually, by providing free legal assistance
to the general public as well as by producing competent and socially
sensitive legal professionals, the college started 'V. M. Salgaocar
College of Law Legal Aid Society' in the year 1998.
Today, the legal aid society of this college has grown and spread the
ambit of its activities all over Goa and beyond, regardless of physical
frontiers and driven only by its sincere desire to contribute in whatever
little way it can to secure justice to every person in the society.
In today’s Knowledge and Information Technology Era, where information
knows no bounds and everything is simply a mouse click away, V. M. Salgaocar
College of Law has launched this novel concept of Legal Aid through
its new vehicle of thought, the 'V. M. Salgaocar College Cyber Legal
Aid'.
The V. M. Salgaocar College of Law through its website http://www.vmslaw.edu/
has set up a link ‘Cyber Legal Aid’ which has been introduced
to serve the needs of the Law Students, Advocates and the General Public

The link lists out the various 'Goan
Legislations' with their respective amendments, including the translated
English version of the Portuguese Civil Code.

List of Free Legal Aid Cells
The V. M. Salgaocar College of Law Cyber Legal Aid, comprehensively
provides a list of all the 'Free
Legal Aid Cells' established by the college in and around the State
of Goa

Drafts and Deeds
‘The Deeds &
Drafts’ section has a vast collection of various legal deed
and agreements like Lease Deed, Mortgage Deed, Agreement to Sell etc;
drafts for various legal suits like application for temporary injunction,
suit for recovery of money etc; and lastly Wills like Will by Persons
with Disabilities, Codicil Substituting a Trustee etc.

Public Interest Litigation
The students of V. M. Salgaocar College of Law furthering the ends of
justice have in the course of their legal Aid Activity identified various
problems affecting the public at large these problems were addressed
before the Hon’ble High Court of Bombay at Goa through the process
know as 'Public Interest Litigation'

filed by various students of our College. This information has been

So that users may be made aware of the various problem faced by the
public at large in the State of Goa.
5. Projects
The V. M. Salgaocar College of Law Legal Aid Society has also conducted
various human rights projects, to sensitize the students and the general
public towards various Human Right problems faced by different sections
of society, through the medium of research, surveys and its implementation.
The first human rights project was conducted on 'Child Rights'
in the year 2001-02, in collaboration with the University of Warwick,
England and National Law School of India University, Bangalore.
This was followed by the 'Women’s Rights' Project
in the year 2002-03. In the year 2003-04, the College conducted the
'Prosperity of Goa' Project, a project that was inaugurated
at the hands of Justice A.M. Ahmadi, Former Chief Justice of the Supreme
Court of India; all of which can be accessed through the 'Projects'

6.
Law Forum
Another distinctive feature of the Cyber Legal Aid concept is that it
invites articles and literary contributions on various present socio-legal
aspects from Legal Luminaries, Practitioners, Professors, students and
other persons. These articles, subject to editorial scrutiny, will be
posted on the V. M. Salgaocar College Cyber Legal Aid website 'Law
Forum' link.
