With an intention of helping the poor, the members of the ‘Cyber Legal Aid ’under the leadership of Ms. Gleerose Fernandes conducted a ‘Reach Out Drive’ which aimed at creating awareness on the various Welfares Schemes to those confined to bed & also the administrative staff of the hospital which included the doctors and nurses.

The programme began with an interactive session with the outdoor patients. Each member discussed the various schemes & benefits available with not less than 2 to 3 patients. In addition the members also had personal interaction with each patient to seek and find if they faced any other difficulty/problems.
Later, the members of Cyber Legal Aid visited the various wards of the hospital to further
promote awareness of the schemes among the indoor patients.

All the Social Welfare Schemes were explained to the doctors, nurses, patients and the care takers of the patients in the various sections of the Asilo hospital i.e. Ophthalmology O.P.D., Ear, Nose & Throat O.P.D., Pediatric section , Casualty section , Skin and Sexually Transmitted Diseases section, Cardiac section, Children’s ward , General ward and Women’s ward .

The Welfare schemes explained are mentioned below:

• Assistance for purchase of artificial aids & appliances to the physically handicapped :
Benefits under this scheme:-Provision of wheelchairs, hearing aids, crutches, chairs supplied at the cost of authority (Provodoria) .

• Purchase of Medicine, Drugs:
Benefits under this scheme:-Financial help of Rs 10,000/-

• Assistance to persons suffering from Tuberculosis ,Cancer, Heart diseases:
Benefits under this scheme:-Financial help of Rs.15,000/-.
• Supply of spectacles :
Benefits under this scheme:-Financial help of Rs 10,000/- .

• Financial assistance for self employment to disable persons.:
Benefits under this scheme:-Financial help from Rs 5,000 to 15,000/- (25% loan 75% subsidy )

• Issue of the identity cards to the disabiled :
Benefits under this scheme:-An identity card .

• Issue of the identity cards to the senior citizens:
Benefits under this scheme:-An identity card .

The programme concluded with a final session which included penning down of the names of those interested in availing the Social Security Schemes.
