Situated at picturesque Miramar, Panaji, the capital of Goa,V.M. Salgaocar College of Law is the only Law School in the North of Goa. This College is the pioneer and oldest institution in the State providing quality legal education since 1973. It is the first college to get ‘A’ Grade rating from NAAC in the State of Goa and first among Law Colleges and institutions of legal learning all over India to secure ‘A’ Grade. It is affiliated to the Goa University and offers the three year under graduate and five year integrated programme in Law, which are recognized by the Bar Council of India, New Delhi. In addition the College also conducts a two year Master of Laws (LLM Programme) with specialization in Human Rights, Labour Laws, Criminal Law and Intellectual Property Law.
The college has an imposing and well equipped Library - one of the outstanding Law libraries in Asia, housing a vast collection of 14,623 law books, 33 academic journals, 20 periodicals and newspapers with facilities for research. It is fully automated and computerized with "NewGenLib" software and open access system where student’s are allowed to enter the reference section and choose books for themselves. It also has a unique and specially designed Moot Court Room provides facility for continuous moot court training. In addition, it has 40 Legal Aid Cells operating throughout the length and breadth of Goa not only provide free legal aid services to the needy people in the State but builds confidence in students and also enhances various skills necessary for the legal profession. The college has its own Computer Lab with 40 computers and Internet facility. The motto of the College is Excellentia, Justitia et Humanitas. To foster an atmosphere where each student perceives himself/herself as a change maker of society ,the mission statement of the College is “Let justice be done though the heavens fall.” The College has an enthusiastic, excellent and energetic faculty committed to its duties and a dedicated leadership.
