Library of V. M. Salgaocar College of Law

Library plays a very crucial role in any academic institution and more so in law institutions. The present library building was inaugurated by Hon’ble Justice K G Balakrishnan, (Judge, Supreme Court of India) in the year 2005.

The library committee is constituted with 4 members who constantly meet to discuss various issues relating to the library. Books are ordered every semester by the faculty and the committee in order to upgrade the books on all the subjects. Library consists of 16,500 books apart from legal journals and periodicals. Library subscribes 33 journals, 10 news papers and 4 magazines.

The utility of the library depends upon the user friendly system followed by the library staff. As per this requirement the library provides for Open access system. The library has a link with Goa University library and goal net which helps in finding out the books available in university library and constituent college libraries.

The web OPAC (Open Public Access Catalogue) is accessible from anywhere in the campus to find out the information on availability of books and journals. Books are issued and returned through New “Genlib” software.

Library can accommodate 300 students at a time. Xerox, printout facility is provided including Wi-Fi connectivity.

• Library has a collection of Official Gazette of Government of Goa (compilation of official gazette, Series I, II & III   including extraordinary and supplementary issues 1962-2009)

• Chanceroy Division of Law reports from 1866 to 1947

• Queens Bench Division Law Reports from 1866 to 1947

• Kings Bench Division Law Reports from 1901 to 1947

• Indian Decisions from 1875 to 1900

• Appeals and cases from 1866 to 1947
